SAP sees Enterprise Social Networking as Opportunity

The company offers a product called Constellation and is also working on several other beta projects to tap the enterprise social networking market.

ERP solution provider, SAP, says it has revamped its offerings to include on-demand cloud and enterprise social networking solutions. As mentioned in this iStockAnalyst article, apart from cloud, SAP believes social networking in the enterprise space has a huge business opportunity.

"This on-demand product is in the 'controlled release' stage – i.e. only a few of SAP's clients worldwide have access to it. The pay-by-the-drink product is expected to be fully rolled out into the market by the end of this year. Apart from small and medium businesses, Mr Couturier believes even large enterprises are increasingly excited about the cloud, for their non-critical operations. 'But there will be a day when even critical processes are moved to the cloud.'

"Apart from cloud, SAP believes social networking in the enterprise space has a huge business opportunity. The company offers a product called Constellation, a collaboration tool, similar to Google Wave, again on limited release. It is working on several other beta projects to tap the benefits of enterprise social networking.

"These applications are in the nascent stage with a few clients running them globallySAP sees a huge uptick from the Indian market once the products are released fully."
