When using a public cloud platform the vendor offers the operating system version, memory, storage, bandwidth, security metrics, IP and DNS addressing and more. This SF Gate article provides details on some different tools that an IT admin can use to to look at rented resources in order to optimize resources and balance what's online and being used.
