Infinera, NTT Demo 100 Gigabit Ethernet at Interop

Infinera has successfully completed a demonstration of 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) transmission with NTT Communications over a live network.

Infinera has announced that it has successfully completed a demonstration of 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) transmission with NTT Communications over a live network. According to the company's news release on Market Watch, the live 100 GbE transmission took place on the NTT Communications network in Makuhari, outside Tokyo during Interop Tokyo (June 9-11, 2010).


"The Infinera DTN 100 Gigabit Ethernet tributary interface module in this demonstration is fully compliant with the most recent IEEE 802.3ba draft specification and CFP MSA. Infinera is working with other vendors and service providers in industry standards bodies to agree common standards for 100 GbE technology and services. Earlier this year, Infinera partnered with other router, test equipment and optical module vendors to show wide interoperability of 100GigE."
