Mirapoint Software has announced the release of the RazorGate 7000 email security gateway appliance, which combines a new security software release with new hardware. As reported on Computer Technology Review, the first line of defense, Reputation Hurdle, halts up to 80-percent of unwanted traffic at the network's edge.

"The efficient multiple scanning architecture of the new RazorGate 7000 combines Premium Edition Antispam with Mirapoint's Signature Edition Rapid Antispam and Reputation Hurdle. Together, the new Mirapoint architecture stops 99 of 100 mail-borne threats before they propagate through the network. The first line of defense, Reputation Hurdle, halts up to 80-percent of unwanted traffic at the network's edge, helping companies reduce or manage their bandwidth, server, and storage costs. Messages are then examined by Premium Edition Antispam and Signature Edition Rapid Antispam, which include outbreak detection, content filtering, URL checks, and Internet Watch Foundation filtering. When combined with an enhanced RazorGate MultiScan policy engine that can be tuned to reduce false positives or negatives, RazorGate achieves a 99-percent catch rate."
