Aussie internet milestone acknowledged by auDA.

In what is viewed as an internet milestone by non-profit manager of the .au space .au Domain Administration (auDA) and domain name registry AusRegistry, Australia doled out its 2 millioneth .au domain name. Herald Sun reports ths milestone puts Australia's "home on the internet" among the top 10 largest country codes.


"’.au is Australia's home on the internet,’ Mr Staley said. ‘It's a trusted, well recognised space for all Australian businesses, organisations and individuals.’ Communications Minister Stephen Conroy said the two million benchmark was evidence of Australia's growing digital economy. ‘The digital economy is the future and I'm pleased to see Australians getting an online presence,’ Senator Conroy said. ‘The internet offers incredible opportunities to businesses, organisations and individuals and the continued growth of the .au domain shows how much Australians are embracing the online world.’"
