As unified communications matures from expensive technologies and intricate deployments to more accommodating to midsized organizations, the communication flexibility offered by UC becomes more valuable. Processor reports that while the UC market remains dominated by large-scale customers, experimentation and adoption by midsized customers using social media and similar technologies is growing.

"’This is especially true as midsized enterprises are using social media and other Web 2.0 tools more and more for recruiting, screening candidates, sharing research, and advertising,’ she says. ‘With the proliferation of social media sites, IM networks, and communications platforms . . . there’s now a much greater need for solutions to manage an increasingly complicated environment of communications tools.’”
