Securing the Enterprise Network from iPad Invasion

Tablet PCs need to be controlled with new mobility policies.

The arrival of the Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPad in the workplace means more work for IT departments, but it is the way of the future as predicted by Bill Gates over ten years ago. Processor reports that in order for enterprises to keep control over the use of personal devices on company premises, new polices need to be established. In 2010 over 15 million iPads were sold to consumers, over half of those in the last quarter.


"Mobility management vendor Good Technology (www.good.com) says that by December of last year, the iPad accounted for 22% of all mobile device activations by Good’s enterprise customers. John Herrema, Good’s senior vice president of corporate strategy, says he expects tablets to account for ‘over 30% of our activations for the year.’”
