AMD Plans $100 Million Data Center Near Atlanta
Chip maker Advanced Micro Devices is planning a $100 million data center project near Atlanta in Suwanee, Georgia.
The AMD facility will be part of the company's data center consolidation project. AMD spokeswoman Pushpita Prasad told the Atlanta Business Chronicle:
We will be consolidating the capacity from some (of) our smaller data centers in North America into a bigger state-of-the-art facility, which allows us to take advantage of the latest technology and achieve efficiencies of scale.
AMD will invest $25 to $30 million in the initial construction of the data center. The company plans to construct the 153,000-square-foot facility in modules over a 10-year period, DatacenterDynamics reports.
