AT&T has opened its second London Internet Data Center to meet the expected growth in demand from enterprises for cloud and other hosted services, Light Reading Europe reports. The facility, which will also include a new network node, is the company's third in the UK and becomes one of 38 such facilities the carrier operates around the globe.

Steven Caniano, vice president of AT&T Hosting and Cloud Services, noted:

With demand for managed hosting and cloud services growing globally, we are further investing in providing enterprise-class infrastructure capabilities and advanced network based services to our customers. With the opening of this state-of-the-art IDC we are building on existing demand for managed hosting and co-location services in EMEA, and expanding our network, while looking ahead to the growth of cloud services.

The new IDC is part of AT&T's $1 billion investment in its global capabilities, according to Data Center Knowledge.
