Facebook has decided to double the size of its data center in Oregon before the first phase has even been completed. The move is a sign of the growth of the social networking site -- which recently topped 500 million users.

Located in Pineville, Ore. the 147,000-square-foot data center is set to open early next year. Facebook will now add an additional 160,000 square feet to the facility. The second phase is scheduled to be complete in early 2012, according to DatacenterDynamics.
