Google Takes Manhattan
Google signed a contract to buy its New York office building for $1.9 billion.
The 2.9 million square foot property, the fourth largest office building in New York, currently houses the likes of Nike, Lifetime, WebMD and Google, which occupies 500,000 square feet, according to Datacenter Dynamics. Google plans to expand beyond the space in which it occupies at present. The 18-story building also sits atop main fiber optic cables in Manhattan and is built to support enormous weight, i.e. heavy servers.
