Google and VMware are collaborating to enable enterprise software developers to build and manage applications within any cloud environment. According to V3.co.uk, the two companies are working primarily on integrating Java into Google programming by supporting VMware's Spring Java apps on the Google App Engine.

Paul Maritz, president and chief executive of VMware noted:

Companies are actively looking to move towards cloud computing. They are certainly attracted by the economic advantages, but are increasingly focused on the business agility and innovation.

VMware and Google are aligning to reassure our mutual customers and the Java community that choice and portability are of utmost importance to both companies.
