At Interop 2011, HP rolled out FlexNetwork, a unified architecture for the data center, campus and branch that HP says will allow enterprises to more flexibly leverage virtualization, mobility, cloud computing and more. A core component of Converged InfrastructureFlexNetwork architecture provides a consistent architectural framework from data center applications all the way to the users in both the campus and branch across the full breadth of the network with a single-pane-glass management, says Kash Shaikh, director of marketing, HP Networking at The HP Blog Hub.

The HP FlexNetwork architecture is open and made up of modular building blocks that share a common management layer:

HP also introduced solutions based on the new HP FlexNetwork architecture, reports ChannelInsider. The company's new FlexManagement solution, which converges physical and virtual network management in a single pane of glass, and a new virtual- and cloud-optimized network intrusion prevention system (IPS) that increases security in data centers, according to HP. In addition, the company unveiled a line of A10500 Series enterprise core switches and new line cards for the E5400 and E8200 switches. HP also unveiled a new security appliance called TippingPoint S6100N IPS.

HP's new architecture and products are targeted at Cisco, the current market leader. HP plans to aggressively market and price its new solutions to chip away at that lead, says eWeek.
