IBM announced a new cloud services platform aimed at enabling telecommunications companies to deliver cloud services to their business customers. IBM Vice President Craig Wilson told Connected Planet that the IBM Cloud Service Provider Platform helps communications service providers create, manage and monetize services in the cloud market.

The platform could allow CSPs to launch new cloud-based services to their customers in as little as six weeks. IBM will also offer tools for meeting security, provisioning and service level management requirements.

With fixed line revenues not being what they used to be, IBM's new platform provides an additional stream of revenue for communications service providers, according to FierceTelecom. IBM estimates that the market for cloud services will grow to $89 billion by 2015.
