i/o Data Centers announced the launch of i/o On-Demand, a service that provides access to a virtual enterprise-grade IT environment, reports Data Center Knowledge. i/o On-Demand is an extension of an in-house program that saw the provider host virtualized customer apps and storage on enterprise-grade hardware owned by i/o Data Centers.

Jason Ferrara, director of marketing for i/o Data Centers said:

For our colo customers, we are seeing a trend where they take a cabinet/cage/suite and then use the On-Demand service to virtualize their storage or processing for certain applications. As our customers have become more comfortable with placing their mission critical applications and /systems in our care, they have also started to become more comfortable with virtualizing some applications and capacity. On-Demand allows them to do that.

More than 30 customers are currently making use of the new i/o On-Demand service from i/o Data Centers, which operates in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Ariz.
