Maxim Integrated Products announced the launch of the 78M6613, what it calls the industry's first system on chip (SoC) energy measurement solution for AC/DC power supplies. The new Teridian/Maxim energy measurement SoC allows for a higher level of control and management to data center equipment, according to New Electronics.

According to Maxim Integrated Products, its SoC enables the capture and reporting of real-time energy data and provides the ability to quantify where energy is needed, being used and being stranded. The 78M6613 is also suited to the energy measurement needs in data communications, storage equipment, home appliances, home automation networks and building automation. The device is also a highly integrated, single-phase, fully self-contained AC power-measurement and monitoring SoC with best-in-class accuracy of 0.5% over a 2000:1 dynamic range and a small 32-pin QFN package.
