TierPoint announced an $8.2 million project to build a third data center at its Liberty Lake complex near Spokane, Wash. The new facility, known as TierPoint 3, is expected to be completed by April 2011, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The new center will be roughly 10,000 square feet and TierPoint will adopt a green approach for keeping it cool, says Data Center Knowledge. TierPoint plans to use geothermal cooling to keep TierPoint 3 cool and reduce water use at the facility. The company will also employ kinetic energy for its uniterruptable power supply systems.
