Twitter to Open Its First Custom-Built Data Center
Twitter will build its first custom data center in the Salt Lake City market, which will allow the microblogging service to better manage its growth.

Twitter announced it is moving its data center operations to a new custom-built facility in the Salt Lake City area, ITProPortal.com reports. In a blog post, Twitter Engineering Program Manager Jean-Paul Cozzatti said:

Finally, Twitter's custom data center is built for high availability and redundancy in our network and systems infrastructure.This first Twitter-managed data center is being designed with a multi-homed network solution for greater reliability and capacity.
The goal of the facility, which is expected to launch within two years, is to help the social networking site become more reliable and provide more capacity for its growing user base, says The Washington Post. Twitter suffered multiple outages during this summer's World Cup in South Africa that stemmed from capacity issues.
