4. DDoS Mitigation for SDN

DDoS attacks and other security issues continue to threaten the health of enterprise networks, and when it comes to SDN, new solutions may be needed. Radware's booth pushed its DefenseFlow SDN security application. The vendor describes DefenseFlow as "an SDN based adaptive attack mitigation solution" that cuts provisioning times for security capabilities, offering dynamic defense against network and application DDoS attacks as well as Advanced Persistent Threats.

Brocade's presence at ONS 2014 also focused on DDoS protection. The vendor's Real-Time Analytics for DDoS Mitigation OpenFlow application, which we discussed here earlier this week, won the ONS 2014 SDN Idol competition. SDN Idol finalists were judged on business value, technology value, competitive differentiation, advancement of overall SDN, and demonstration quality and judged by executives from Interop, Presidio, Google, and Mohr Davidow Ventures.
