The OpenDayLight Project today announced its Lithium release, marking the third major platform release for the open-source Software Defined Networking (SDN) effort since the project was first created in April 2013.

The first OpenDaylight Hydrogen release debuted in February 2014 and was followed by the Helium release in September.

Wright noted that a few projects were added in the Lithium release, including the Cisco-submitted Group Based Policy effort.
