Barracuda says its latest spam firewall appliance is a good fit for enterprises.

Today the company announced the Barracuda Spam Firewall 900, which it says offers the "largest quarantine storage capacity and the fastest throughput" of e-mail gateway appliances.

The quad-CPU device offers 300 GB of RAID disk storage and dual gigabit Ethernet ports, and includes redundant hot-swappable power supplies. Several 900's can be clustered to increase redundancy and capacity.

The appliance scans outbound e-mail attachments, takes advantage of Barracuda's Rate Control System to throttle open relays and zombie PCs, and supports both inbound and outbound STARTTLS encryption.

The Barracuda Spam Firewall 900 will be available in November and is priced at $29,999 for the appliance and $6,599 per year for subscription to the Energize Update service.
