Criminals Target Windows 2000 Flaw

The code being used is new and gives hackers a way to take over a system.

Computerworld reports that Symantec is warning that online criminals are targeting Windows 2000 machines that haven't had a recent Windows Media Service patch installed. Although the attacks are limited, Symantec says the code being used is new and gives hackers a way to take over a system.

The patch has been quite troublesome for Microsoft. It was originally released on April 13, but the company had to reissue the patch two weeks later after it discovered that it didn't fix the problem.
