According to USA Today, Sophos is now offering a free version of its business-class Mac security software to consumers.

Chris Kraft, product management vice president at Sophos, assures consumers that Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition for Mac is completely free, no strings attached, and is exactly the same as the paid version. The full-featured antivirus and anti-malware suite will protect against Trojans, viruses and other threats, reports eSecurity Planet.

In a blog post, Graham Cluley, a senior technology consultant at Sophos, says the attitude that many Mac users have that they are immune to attacks put them at risk:

The cybercriminals aren't kids messing around in back bedrooms any longer, they're organized and professional. And – unfortunately – many Mac users may have been too blase about securing their computers, making the growing Apple userbase an attractive one to target.
