Survey: Half of U.S. Employees Would Steal Corporate Data
Forty-nine percent of U.S. respondents said they would steal corporate data on their way out.

According to a new study conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of security software vendor SailPoint, nearly half of American workers have no qualms about stealing corporate data.
eSecurity Planet reports that 49 percent of U.S. respondents said they would steal corporate data as they were leaving their current job. Twenty-nine percent said they would swipe customer data and contact information, while 13 percent would nab small office supplies like pens, folders and staplers.
Jackie Gilbert, SailPoint's vice president of marketing and co-founder, says:
I believe the survey illustrates that many employees may not believe that taking company data is equivalent to stealing. It highlights what I call a 'moral grey area' around ownership of electronic data.
It's interesting to note that the survey found that the more workers make, the more likely they are to pilfer enterprise intellectual property.
