Netopia, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTPA) has announced the update of its service delivery platform with the immediate availability of netOctopus 4.0. The new version now includes support for Windows XP and Apple's Mac OS X. The company says the additional enhancements include full database support and enhanced software distribution capabilities.

netOctopus may be used for asset inventories, ensuring software license compliance, and in the planning and executing of software deployments and updates.

The product now features SQL back-end support, which the company says will provide for easier integration with existing inventory and reporting systems by providing live synchronization between netOctopus and standard databases such as MS SQL, Oracle, Sybase and others.
