NetPro Computing, Inc. has announced DirectoryTroubleshooter, a suite of Active Directory troubleshooting tests and utilities the company says were previously limited to the Microsoft command-line.

DirectoryTroubleshooter provides a single client interface for running multiple tests against selected domain controllers, sites, domains, or naming contexts to diagnose directory problems. The software also provides a help file and some reporting functionality for current and historical reference.

The provided test include domain controller health to DNS, replication, and File Replication Services (FRS), DirectoryTroubleshooter features more than 60 different tests and utilities for troubleshooting.

Product availability is set for early May, in two available price options:

A 'Workstation' license at a price of $500 which includes one copy of the software for use on a single workstation. The price includes knowledge base updates and bug fixes, but no major upgrades. Customers will receive free technical support for 30 days following purchase. After 30 days, technical support will be offered at an extra charge of $50 per call. Customers who purchase the DirectoryTroubleshooter Workstation License will be required to buy major upgrades of the software at a discounted upgrade price as it is released. After August 10th, 2002, the DirectoryTroubleshooter Workstation License will be available at a list price of $749.

A "Workstation Pro" license at a price of $2000: a per-user, perpetual license that includes all major upgrades, bug fixes, knowledge base updates, and technical support for three years. After the initial three-year period expires, an annual maintenance fee of 20% will apply. For customers interested in purchasing more than five Workstation Pro licenses, a discount pricing structure will apply. After August 10th, 2002, the DirectoryTroubleshooter Workstation Pro License will be available at a list price of $2,500.
