According to the National Outsourcing Association's "UK Cloud Adoption Report," the key period for cloud adoption will be 2010 to 2012. As it stands, cloud penetration sits at just 3 percent, but as enterprises seek increased scalability along with lower costs, the technology is expected thrive, says V3.co.uk.

Other drivers of cloud computing include the need to refresh or upgrade systems. Earlier this week, our Arthur Cole asked if there was room for the hybrid cloud and it appears that there is, as the majority of respondents favored using a hybrid cloud approach.
