How OpenStack and OpenDaylight Intersect [VIDEO]
The OpenStack cloud and the OpenDaylight Software Defined Networking (SDN) initiatives have a lot in common. For starters, both efforts are open source, and both efforts can--and do--work together.
Among those who are working on bringing OpenStack and OpenDaylight together is Tom Nadeu, chief architect of open source projects at Brocade. In a video interview with Enterprise Networking Planet, Nadeu details his role at Brocade and describes how open source is moving networking forward.
"My role is to drive and build OpenStack products and also OpenDaylight products," Nadeau said.
The intersection of OpenStack and OpenDaylight comes in the form of policy and control. The OpenStack Neutron networking project itself is an abstraction layer into which OpenDaylight can integrate.
"We have orchestration at the top and then detailed network control at the bottom," Nadeau said.
