According to the Federal Information Security Market, 2010-2015 report by Input, federal cyber security spending will increase 9.1 percent annually over the next five years, jumping from $8.6 billion in 2010 to $13.3 billion in 2015.

InformationWeek reports that the investment is being driven by a whopping 445 percent increase in security incidents over the last few years and a shortage of expert personnel, which means the government will either have to invest in training its own staff or contract work out to qualified professionals.

The government has already invested in the latter as evidenced by a five-year, $99.5 million cyber security contract that the Federal Bureau of Investigation awarded to ManTech International.
