In Brief: MailAnalyzer Release Helps Administrators Enforce Mail Policy
eIQNetworks has released a beta version of its MailAnalyzer product, designed to allow Microsoft Exchange administrators the ability to track and asses their organizations' e-mail usage.
According to Jay Reddy, eIQNetworks' Vice President of Product Management, MailAnalyzer is able to do more than simply track volume and frequency: it acts as a policy enforcement tool by including attachment scanners and content analyzers that examine mail for links to objectionable sites.
The product uses information gathered from Exchange Server message tracking logs, Exchange Directory & Windows 2000 Active Directory, Windows NT Event Logs to gather the bulk of its traffic analysis information, and can produce reports available in HTML, MS Word, MS Excel, and PDF formats.
Though MailAnalyzer is designed for use with Microsoft Exchange versions 5.5 and 2000, administration and reporting can be managed from any platform via its built-in web server. According to Reddy, the list of supported platforms will soon lengthen with the addition of Lotus Domino and Sendmail.
The product is set for release in late April, but prospective buyers may download an evaluation version of the beta release, complete with instructions. Once released, MailAnalyzer will sell for $399 for a single license.
