Microsoft has released a new version of its Update Rollup for Windows 2000, fixing several issues and leaving more for eventual hotfixes.

In a knowledge base article, Microsoft said Update Rollup 1, released in late June, was pushed out with several outstanding issues that weren't resolved before the company froze development on the update. Update Rollup 1 v2 addresses those issues.

Among the problems fixed in the new rollup are error messages received when visiting the Windows update site, an inability to save Microsoft Office files to floppy disk, and a "Stop 0x000001E" error message received on reboot after installing the rollup.

Microsoft also made note of several issues not addressed in the new version of the rollup. According to the company, it's leaving those issues to either vendor support, since they generally affect third party applications, or individual hotfixes.

Among the issues in that category are an inability to connect to Citrix MetaFrame XP Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0-based servers, lengthy network login times for users of Sophos Anti-Virus applications and an inability to start some Internet Security Systems (ISS) products.

The company reported that Sophos has posted a fix for the rollup issues related to its products, the ISS issues can be resolved by consulting a knowledge base article on the matter, and that Citrix has published a hotfix for its affected products.
