MegaPath: Award winning voice, data, and security services.
MegaPath, Inc., headquartered in Costa Mesa, Calif., is a provider of managed IP communications services throughout North America, with offerings that include a wide selection of broadband connectivity, virtual private networks, basic VoIP service, hosted PBX, and security technologies.
These services are designed to enable businesses to lower costs, increase security, and enhance staff productivity. They are targeted at enterprises needing improved communication between their headquarters, branch offices, retail locations, mobile workers, and business partners.
The company was founded in 1996, and currently claims to have 22,000 business customers at over 70,000 locations.
MegaPath has garnered a number of industry awards in the last few years, including an Internet Telephony Magazine 2009 Product of the Year Award for their Duet with MPLS and Managed Security Service; Customer Interaction Solutions Magazine 2009 Product of the Year Award for their Managed SSL VPN Service; Phone+ Magazine Top Channel Program Award for 2008; and being ranked in the list of Top 500 Technology Integrators by Everything Channel for the past six years.
The basis for these recognitions becomes more evident when the MegaPath offerings are examined in some detail.
The services break down into four key categories: Connectivity Services, Security Services, VPN Services, and Voice and Data Services.
MegaPaths Connectivity Services include managed broadband T1, bonded T1, Business Ethernet, DS-3, DSL, Cable, Satellite, and Wireless broadband Internet access. The T1 services include several alternatives, such as a broadband business-class service with speeds from 384 Kbps to 1.5 Mbps; a bonded service that provides the full bandwidth of multiple T1 lines bonded together to deliver greater speed and throughput; plus a Premium T1 service that offers speeds up to 6.0 Mbps and includes a proactive monitoring service, premium support and additional security.
Managed Security Services provide intrusion protection with real-time protection against network and application attacks without degradation of performance; anti-virus and anti-spyware protection from both inbound and outbound security threats, and Web filtering that enforces Internet usage policies with updates for the latest threat protections.
The VPN Services offer a MPLS (def.) based, site-to-site VPN that can consolidate all business applications into a single private network with up to five classes of services and built-in security; and a managed SSL VPN service that is targeted at enterprises that need a remote access system to meet corporate access, retail access or business continuity requirements.
The MegaPath Voice and Data Services are offered under the Duet brand, which is billed as the lowest priced bundled offering of its kind, which includes both unlimited local and long distance phone service and Internet service. All of the Duet bundles include two phone lines and Internet access, with data rates ranging from 416 Kbps to 1.5 Mbps, and corresponding monthly charges of $99.00 to $359.00. Calling features include: voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, and others, with support for both fax and e-mail included.
Duet SIP Trunking is designed for customers that want to use their existing digital PBX system, yet still realize the benefits of combined voice and Internet service with a single circuit. Of note, this service never utilizes the public Internet, thus assuring higher reliability and quality for the voice connections. The SIP Trunking service includes unlimited local calling, inbound caller ID names and numbers, direct inward dialing (DID) numbers, directory listings and 411 Directory Assistance; plus business-class T1 internet access, email, spam filtering, with optional 800 numbers and additional DID lines.
The Duet+MPLS offering combines voice, Internet connectivity, MPLS VPN, and managed security services into an integrated access solution that consolidates all corporate communication into a single connection. The voice capabilities includes Duet PRI (for digital PBX support) and Duet SIP Trunking (for IP-PBX support) that deliver up to 24 phone lines and 1.5 Mbps Internet service over a private, all-optical MPLS network. The quality of service features in this package include the prioritization of business-critical applications, control over bandwidth utilization, consistent and interruption-free network performance, and network congestion avoidance.
The Duet Hosted service, announced in March 2010, is a cloud-based service that provides the convenience of the Internet without the capital expenditures required for on-site infrastructure or network management expertise. The service is available for organizations with either single or multiple locations, and offers enterprise-level features including call transfer, three-way calling, and hunt groups; customer-experience capabilities such as an auto attendant; and music on hold; plus call forwarding, simultaneous ring, and sequential ring so that important calls are not missed.
The service is also fully compatible with Microsoft Outlook and Salesforce.com, to easily integrate it into existing business applications. The multi-location service adds a four-digit dialing plan, plus connections between offices that are connected via the MegaPath IP/MPLS backbone for enhanced reliability and security.
