BroadSoft Offers Cloud-based Videoconferencing: BroadSoft is introducing BroadCloud Video, a high-definition, software-as-a-service-based videoconferencing service offered through service providers. The IP communications software vendor is filling out the features of its BroadCloud cloud-based delivery platform, complementing its BroadWorks VoIP platform, which enables service providers to offer their end user customers a range of communications services including video, fax, voice and e-mail from one platform, according to the company.

Aspect Leverages Acme Packet Enterprise SBCs with Verizon IP Trunking and Microsoft Lync: Acme Packet, the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that Chelmsford, Mass.-based Aspect, a global provider of unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) services and software, has deployed Acme Packet's Net-Net Session Director (SD) enterprise session border controller (E-SBC) to enable the SIP trunking connection between Aspect's Microsoft Lync 2010 UC&C environment and Verizon's IP Trunking service. The Net-Net SD was recently qualified under Microsoft's Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program (UC OIP) with Microsoft's Lync 2010 Server and Verizon's IP Trunking service.

USA Mobility Acquires Amcom Software: Last week wireless paging giant USA Mobility bought Amcom Software for $163.3 million in cash. USA Mobility used $110.8 million of cash on hand and $52.5 million through a credit facility from Wells Fargo Capital Finance.
