"According to Mike Vizard of IT Business Edge and CTO Edge, the time for convergence of social networking tools and unified communications solutions has arrived," writes John Storts on IT Business Edge.

"Companies like Avaya, IBM, and Siemens have begun offering some interoperability between their UC solutions and the Twitter messaging system, although Twitter currently doesn't make this easy to accomplish. In short, Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites want to be able to pull information into their networks, but they usually don't provide a robust API that allow others to pull data from them, making the UC providers do all the work to create connections," Storts writes.
