Two Weeks to Lync
Microsoft's Lync has been released to manufacturing, which suggests that the official launch date of Nov. 17 will be met. The ecosystem surrounding the new platform is growing as well, with announcements from Accordent, IntelePeer and F5 Networks within the last week.

Softpedia and other sites are reporting that Lync, Microsoft's successor to Office Communications Server and Communicator, has been released to manufacturing. That is a sign that it is on track to a November 17 launch date. The release will be marked by an event in New York City on that day.

- Accordent Technologies introduced new capabilities for the fourth generation of its Enterprise Video Management platform. The platform uses Lync platform to serve rich media content to desktops.
- IntelePeer, a cloud-based company, has been selected by BriComp Computers to provide hosted Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking connections for UC services offered through Lync, the company said.
- Application delivery network provider F5 Networks introduced the F5 Application Ready Solution for Microsoft Lync 2010. The release says the platform is aimed at ensuring high availability and reliability for Lync Server 2010.
There will be more. And that's not surprising, considering that Microsoft's biggest move yet into UC -- which is expected to generate a high initial adoption rate -- is two weeks from launch.
