Federal CIO Vivek Kundra has announced that Recovery.gov, a website that allows citizens to track spending under last year’s $787 million economic stimulus package, will run entirely on Amazon Web Services, reports Kara Reeder at IT Business Edge.
The move makes it the first fully cloud-powered federal IT project, according to SearchCloudComputing.com. It’s a move that will also save the government $420,000 next year. In addition to reduced costs, the U.S. Recovery and Accountability Board hopes to make its computer operations more efficient and secure.
