Salesforce.com and VMware are developing a hosted service that companies can use to write and run custom applications via the Web. The service, called VMforce, will be designed for hosting Java applications and will debut during the second half of this year in a developer preview, according to PC World.
The partnership combines the largest deliverer of SaaS and the top maker of virtualization programs. VMforce will take aim at similar offerings from Amazon, Google, IBM and Microsoft, Reuters reports.
