Google Partners with Citrix
Citrix Receiver will allow Chrome OS notebook users to enjoy all the benefits of a fast, lightweight, Web-based notebook computer for personal use, and still have easy, secure access to their Windows-based work applications, desktops and data at any time.
Next year, when notebooks running Chrome OS launch, Citrix Receiver, a software client for application and desktop virtualization, will be available as a Web App in the Chrome Web store. Users at the 250,000 businesses that use Citrix, which Google will likely be targeting, will be able to bring a Chrome OS notebook into the office and immediately have access to enterprise apps through Receiver, reports eWeek.
During a demonstration, Gordon Payne, senior vice president of Citrix Systems, showed Citrix Receiver running a Hyperion business intelligence application, a Solid Works CAD application and Microsoft Excel on the Chrome OS , with the document actually hosted at the company's data center, says Staho.com.
