Some networking executives have extreme jobs, but only one is the actual CEO of Extreme Networks. Charles Berger was named CEO of Extreme Networks in April of 2013 and has had a busy first year on the job.
In a video interview with Enterprise Networking Planet, Berger details some of the activities of his first year and what the vendor’s plans are for future growth.
One of the key activities is the integration of Enterasys into Extreme Networks. Extreme acquired Enterasys in a $180 million deal announced in September of 2013, and the integration work to get the two operations fully aligned is ongoing.
“We were in the process as I joined the company of just being a wired campus vendor to being a campus and data center vendor,” Berger said.
With the addition of Enterasys, Extreme is now a player in the wireless space as well. The combined portfolio also enables the emerging Software Defined Networking (SDN) market.
