NBASE-T Alliance Demonstrates Real 2.5/5Gbps Interoperability [VIDEO]

Existing Cat5e and Cat6 cabling gets a boost with 2.5 and 5 Gbps speeds thanks to NBASE-T Alliance efforts.

In October 2014, the NBASE-T Alliance was formed as an effort to define and advance standards for 2.5 and 5 Gbps networking over existing cabling. Now in 2016, the effort has delivered real, live, working, interoperable devices from multiple vendors.

At the Interop 2015 event, NBASE-T Alliance members demonstrated the early promise of the specification. At the Interop 2016 event, NBASE-T Alliance members made good on that promise with real working demos.

In a series of demos recorded at Interop, Peter Jones, NBASE–T Alliance chairman and member company spokesperson, details how their technology works to enable the new speeds.
