Comcast Signs IPv6 Customer

While keeping the customer’s name private, Comcast says it has installed the first corporate customer for its new native dual-stack service, which supports both IPv4, the current version of the Internet Protocol, and the long-anticipated upgrade known as IPv6. As noted in this Network World report is that Comcast plans to complete its transition to IPv6 by 2012.


“Comcast last week installed the first corporate customer for its new native dual-stack service, which supports both IPv4, the current version of the Internet Protocol, and the long-anticipated upgrade known as IPv6.

“Comcast says it encountered no glitches setting up its first customer with a dual-stack connection. ‘Technologically, it was very straightforward for us,’ Brzozowski says. ‘We’ve planned ahead knowing IPv6 was in our future…It’s about timing. It’s about planning.'”
