The new fan-less MILAN by Transition offers a standalone switching solution
for high speed work groups in locations sensitive to ambient noise. According to
the release on CNN Money, the unique features of this switch allow customers to
leverage their existing 100Base-FX network infrastructure, while allowing
support of future high-bandwidth network devices with IPv6 addressing.
The new switch provides (24) 10/100/1000Base-T copper ports and (4) Combo 10/100/1000Base-T or dual-speed (100/1000) SFP ports. Operating over an ambient temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius, it can forward 41.7 Mega packets-per-second over its 56 Gbps switching backplane. Eight hardware queues per port and an 8K MAC Address table support efficient processing and prioritization of data, allowing organizations to continue to reap the benefits of legacy network investments and maximize ROI.
