Hotmail to Get Security Boost

Come October, Microsoft will release an update to boost security for its Hotmail service. reports that included in the update will be tools to analyze log-in history and account activity, full-site SSL security protection and more security proofs, such as mobile phone numbers and marking the user’s computer as a “trusted PC.” Users will now have to answer one security proof before being able to make changes to others.

In a blog post, John Scarrow, general manager of security services at Microsoft, says:

These updates help you protect your password and, in the unlikely event that a hijacker gains access to your account, provide a more secure recovery path so you will always be able to get your account back and kick the hijackers out.
