Man Sentenced to 10 Years for VoIP Hacking

Computerworld reports that Edwin Pena has received a 10-year prison sentence for stealing and then reselling more than 10 million minutes of Internet phone service.

In February, Pena pleaded guilty to hacking into several VoIP networks between 2004 and 2006 and then reselling millions of stolen minutes.

The first person to be charged by U.S. authorities with VoIP hacking, Pena must also pay more than $1 million in restitution. He will be deported once he finishes serving his sentence.
