NET Joins UCIF To Advance Unified Communications Interoperability: Network Equipment Technologies announced today its Contributor Level membership in the recently formed Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCIF), a non-profit alliance of worldwide technology leaders working together to fully realize the potential of unified communications (UC). The UCIF is dedicated to enabling standards-based, cross-vendor interoperability of UC hardware and software across enterprises, service providers and consumer clouds and is designed to enable global businesses to be more productive.

Mitel U.S. President Leaves: Mitel, a leading provider of unified communications software solutions, today announced the departure of Richard Dell, President, Mitel U.S., effective immediately. In addition to his current responsibilities and on an interim basis, Paul Butcher, president and chief operating officer of Mitel Networks Corporation, will take direct responsibility for the management and direction of Mitel U.S.

Frost & Sullivan: Google Storms Unified Communications and Collaboration Market: Google, a California-based search and advertising services giant, has been known to employ aggressive acquisitive strategies towards the domination of new markets. A recent surge of takeovers such as Android, 2Web Technologies, Marratech, GrandCentral, Gizmo5, and other innovative communications and collaboration firms, as well as recently developed and launched products, show that the Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) market is one of the Google’s directions. Despite being a new entrant, Google, with its proactive approach, abundant capital and human resources, will very likely become a major UCC participant in the coming years.
