Ajay Kapoor on what’s ahead for 2011:
The year ahead for unified communications will be “transitional” on a number of fronts, according to Ajay Kapoor, vice president of customer service for Avaya.
Kapoor, who spoke to Carl Weinschenk in late December, predicts that in 2011 consumer social media, mobility and other products and services will become integral elements of UC, not the add-ons they often are today. He said that the company expects the role of the desktop to change and virtual workspaces to proliferate. Companies will increasingly drive UC adoption, as opposed to focusing solely on the technology itself, he said.
