Dan York on UC security: [swf file=”http://vid.itbe.com/ctoedge/danyorkaug172010.mp3″]
Dan York didn’t want to write another book about VoIP security. Many good ones already were available, he said. Instead, he decided that it would be more useful to expand the horizon and look at unified communications in general. The bottom line is that securing UC is different and in ways more complex than protecting isolated services.
The result of York’s research is The Seven Deadliest Unified Communications Attacks, which was published in April by Syngress. Carl Weinschenk spoke to York about how deployment of unified communications should change an organization’s approach to security.
York is the Director of Emerging Communication Technology reporting to the CTO of Voxeo Corporation and on the board of the Voice over IP Security Alliance (VOIPSA).
