Telanetix: One-stop shopping for VoIP and video telepresence.

Telanetix, Inc., headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, is a communications solutions provider offering next generation voice services and video telepresence solutions to the business market.

The company has a history of serving over 100,000 business customers, including Sun Microsystems, American Express, and IBM, and has scaled its award-winning technologies to meet the needs of entrepreneurial-minded small businesses.

Telanetix has two main service offerings: a video telepresence solution, marketed under the Digital Presence™ brand; and a hosted voice service, marketed under the AccessLinebrand.

The Digital Presence video solutions are designed to enhance multisite enterprise communications, and are provided with two principal applications.

The Meeting RoomEdition provides an alternative to costly and aggravating business travel, and is installed in an existing conference room. Using the desktop sharing capabilities, participants are able to display charts, Powerpoint presentations, and other PC applications, as well as video content from a DVD player or other video source. The system allows up to nine locations to be connected simultaneously, and is only limited by the real estate of the display screen.

The Telanetix solution includes proprietary software-based CODECs and advanced MPEG-4 compression, which reduces overall operational costs. It is interoperable with existing video conferencing equipment that is based on the H.263, H.264 and H.323 compatible SIP-enabled desktop and video conferencing systems, thus protecting existing video conferencing investments.

The Executive Editionis designed as an affordable system that eliminates the jittery images, latency, and challenging user interfaces that were typical of earlier products and services. Each system includes only three components: two 42-inch plasma screens, and a console that houses the CODECs, cameras, microphones, speakers, and other control hardware.

The system features one-touch operation, and is interoperable with SIP and H.323, H.263 and H.264 systems. A built-in traffic shaper is included which provides network cost savings and assured conference quality.

The AccessLineservices provide hosted communications and managed voice services to the small and medium business marketplace, and are designed for companies wanting to implement VoIP, telecommuting, mobile work force, and unified messaging applications. The service can be integrated with existing legacy premise-based telecommunications systems (and would extend their economic life), or with systems that Telanetix supplies.

AccessLine is designed to be an intermediate point between a traditional premises PBX and a fully hosted voice system, combining the best of both worlds. This service utilizes an on-premise base unit (which is connected to the customer’s router) to aggregate multiple phones with fewer phone lines. This process gives the customer the ability to choose the ratio of phones to lines that best meets their business requirements. In addition, it provides the best aspects of the hosted model, such as the ease of installation and network management plus lower first cost investment.

For small businesses, Telanetix offers a complete PBX solution supporting up to 8 lines and 20 phones that they claim can be set up and making calls within 15 minutes after unpacking the equipment. The equipment is shipped within seven days of receipt of order, and includes a system that can support over 50 features, including voicemail, auto attendant, call routing, caller ID, message waiting indication, day/night/holiday switching, custom music on hold, and other features.

The equipment and one phone is priced at $90.98 per month for the first 12 months, with each additional phone (up to 20 total) costing $8.00 per month. With the 3000 Minute Plan service is free for the first two lines, and then charged at $34.99 per month for additional lines. With the Unlimited Plan, service pricing is $30.00 per month for the first two lines, and $49.99 per month for additional lines for the first 12 months. After the first 12 months, lines are priced at $49.99 per month. Additional services, such as outbound long distance and inbound toll free calls are also available at an additional charge.
