Unilava Corporation, headquartered in San Francisco, Calif.—and its subsidiary brands—provides a highly diversified portfolio of communications services, including long distance phone service in 41 states, local phone service in 11 states, plus mobile, Internet, and VoIP services.
Since its founding in 2003, the firm has grown to include 40 locations of carrier-grade microwave wireless broadband infrastructure access points and broadband Internet access partners. Unilava offers mobile and high-definition IP hosted voice services to both residential and small to medium-size businesses.
In addition, the company offers a number of online advertising, mobile advertising, and Web services, including operating enterprise social networking portals for its members, which utilize a wide array of services, including video chat, video e-mail, e-fax, VoIP and conference calling capabilities. Unilava has offices in Chicago, Hong Kong, Korea and China, supported by approximately 45 employees and 100 agents and representatives worldwide.
Unilava’s voice communications subsidiary, named Telava, provides services to both residential and business customers, including high-definition business grade VoIP.
Telava owns its own wireless network, operating under the WiMAX standards, and covering over 45 cities and 22 states, nationwide, with access points currently located in the northwest United States along the Pacific coast, and in the central region, stretching from Texas to the Great Lakes. This network has been designed to be scalable as more access points are added, with deployments possible in both metropolitan and rural markets.
Telava’s business VoIP services are marketed under the name VINCE, an acronym representing Voice over Internet Communication Evolution. VINCE is a remote network that hosts high-definition quality calls using IP, utilizing two network facilities in San Diego, California and one in Dallas, Texas, that encompass over 64,000 square feet of total space. This offering is designed to remove many of the operational concerns that network managers face, and also minimize the customer’s upfront capital expenditures. The only requirement that a business needs to get started is a broadband high-speed Internet connection, and a phone system (either traditional or IP-based). The VINCE network then provides links to both third-party IP networks and the PSTN, and connects to the customer premises via either a T1/E1 line, or through an optional SIP gateway.
VINCE provides two key voice services: SIP Trunking and Hosted VoIP. The SIP Trunking Services allow customers to use their broadband Internet connection, existing phone system and an IP Phone Adapter to obtain high-quality voice service. Telava provides six different plans for SIP Trunking, beginning with a single line package that provides 800 domestic/international outbound minutes per month, and ranging up to a 12 line package with 9,600 domestic/international outbound minutes per month. Costs vary from $30.00 to 240.00 per month, plus a one-time setup fee of $99.99 per package. All of the plans include unlimited inbound traffic, E-911 service and Direct Inward Dialing (DID) capabilities.
The VINCE Hosted VoIP Service, available worldwide, is targeted at small and medium-size business customers. The service includes a comprehensive list of voice features, including: unlimited auto attendants, music or announcements on hold, enhanced voicemail, find me/follow me, and extension-to-extension dialing.
Telava offers three different pricing options for the hosted VINCE service. The Basic Plan provides unlimited local and long distance in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and is priced at $29.95 per month per line plus $7.95 per extension. The Premium Plan adds unlimited calling to 16 different counties in Asia, the South Pacific, Europe, the United Kingdom, and South America, and is priced at $34.95 per month per line, plus $7.95 per extension. The PremiumPlus Plan extends the unlimited calling to 34 countries, including some in Central America and the Middle East, and is priced at $44.95 per month per line, plus $7.95 per extension. The PremiumPlus Plan also includes a 10 user conference bridge and Internet fax capabilities. Polycom Soundpoint IP Phones and conferencing systems are available through Telava on either a sale or lease basis.
