The next half-year will be interesting and challenging, as the newly combined organization works through the integration. As an in-house collaboration solution, Meeting Exchange combines proven audio conferencing capabilities from Avaya with an array of market-leading enterprise collaboration tools and video—giving enterprise users an enhanced ability to launch and manage virtual conferences.

As with any move of this nature – Avaya is adding about 6,000 employees and 25 managers – the surviving company will face many integration challenges and product road map decisions.
In terms of sheer size, the combined entity is in the same ballpark as Cisco. The precise pecking order, if a leader needs be identified, likely depends on the always-elusive definition of unified communications.
